Mint and Cilantro Chutney

This took some work, finding the right combination of flavors to make the prefect Mint and Cilantro Chutney.  I tried many times to get it right and finally, a few weeks ago, I did it!

1 cup mint leaves

1 cup cilantro

Juice of 1 lemon

Juice of 1 lime

1 inch of ginger finely diced

1 inch of fresh turmeric (if you can’t find fresh you could use 1/2 tsp powder)

1 tsp cumin powder

1/2  tsp salt

1 clove of garlic

1 jalapeno with the seeds removed

1/4 – 1/2 cup water

Combine all the ingredients in a food processor or a blender, I used my ninja on setting 3, and puree until smooth. It should take a few mins to breakdown all the mint and cilantro leaves to a smooth paste.  Transfer to a bowl and use as a chutney for Samosas, Bhaji’s and Naan breads.  Delicious!! Makes about 1 cup of Chutney.

You can store in the fridge covered for up to 7 days, unless you are like us and it’s gone by day 2.
